Pic 5 - Painting the Exterior hull 1
to start, the hull needs to be painted and the model base assembled. The first color will be "FLAT WHITE" on the top section of the hull. I use painters tape to mask off the line. Painters tape doesn't leave any gum on the model.

Hi Mark,
The Blue stuff is called painters tape. It's a special tape with a light gum on it so it won't pull of layers of paint like masking tape will. You can prime the parts if you want to, but I've found that you can prime all the pieces with "Flat White". It works just as well as the primer and it makes a good base coat for other colors. Make sure each coat is light not over done. If you're going to light the ship you need to first spray at least one side of all of the wall and deck pieces to prevent light leaks. Then use the Flat White as your base coat or primer. Some of the smallest pieces I have painted by hand.

I'm getting one myself shortly...whar is the blue stuff? that the primer? what did you use as primer for the hull? And should I also prime all the other plastic parts before I use enamel paint with an airbrush? And do you have to primer the tiny PE parts as well? I mean the parts fron tom model works and GMM modelling? cheers and thanks for the pics.
